Brand Ambassador (Strategic Marketing Internship):
Afterschool.me is searching for passionate, energetic and committed ambassadors. We are currently located in Los Angeles and will be expanding to cities across the country. We will select the most promising candidates at respective universities.

Ambassadors Responsibilities:
1) Crafting social media messaging for your area.
2) Market research on afterschool programs and free activities.
3) Speaking on behalf of Afterschool.me to the best afterschool programs in your community.
4) Creating and implementing a grassroots marketing strategy.
5) Have fun with our team during breaks as we play kickball, attend improv and other random goodness that relate to sports, arts and tech!

Ambassador Benefits:
1) College Credit Where Applicable.
2) Paid Stipend Based on Experience.
3) Exposure to Advisors from ESPN, HBO + Mashable.

Commitment:
15-40 hours per week depending on availability, and the dates are flexible (ideally June – September).

Location:

Los Angeles Headquarters or Remotely (but only if you have the internet, which was invented by Al Gore).

The Extracurricular Crisis and The Future of Afterschool Programs in the USA

The  “Entertainment and Sports Lawyer” recently published an article on the future of afterschool activities that was written by Evan Fieldman, our CEO and Co-Founder. The article, A Temporary Band-Aid: Pay-to-Play Fees and The Extracurricular Crisis, analyzes the implications of charging students fees to participate in sports and arts programs at public schools. Highlights include:

  • School districts in 33 states charge students pay-to-play fees.
  • Pay-to-play fees for a single student may be more than $700 per activity in one season.
  • States across the country are eliminating public funding for school sponsored extracurricular activities.

MLK Day in LA: Arts, Parks and Community

Honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 16, 2012 by helping the community! Join fellow Angelenos at the Los Angeles Academy Middle School and assist an underserved school become a more engaging, educational, and colorful place for children to learn and play. Volunteers will paint educational murals, create engaging blacktops game and activities, build benches and plant green benches.
